I wasted $60 ordering my birth certificate. UPS lost the package and they denied my claim because they can't reach Vitalcheck.

I sat on hold for an hour, waiting for someone to take the call.

I needed identification as soon as possible and had very little in the way of identification. The first state website I found had over a 1-month wait time, but then I found another that filed through Vitacheck.

The process was super easy because They were able to confirm my identity through information on the photocopy on my birth certificate, my ID number, and some challenge questions, so I didn't need to submit any documents (but you can submit documents if you have them). It took roughly 10 mins to complete and my new official birth certificate was printed out in two days (I applied at night so more like one day).

I paid for the fastest shipping, but ended up receiving nearly a week later (I think was due to a snowstorm). I took off one star because the shipping was relatively slow (technically this was UPS's fault) and because I'm not sure if I could have received similar service from a municipal office.

I placed my order. They took longer than expected (but shorter than the estimated max) and to make up for it, they sent my documentation via overnight express.

Yes, it's a bit pricey to use this service, but they give us a way to make it less costly per unit, just order extras!

I ordered about a half dozen extra of each of the documents that I was requesting.

The requested documents ranged from birth certificates to marriage certificates. The plan was to expand on our document backups by making sure that each family member had a copy of all of their own records as well as both parents.

When you order 6+ copies of each document, the high fee for the initial work to make an official copy is offset by the cheaper cost for each additional copy.

My hope is that I now have enough copies and since they are stored at multiple locations, that I should never need to get another official copy.

Submitted order for NY State Birth Certificate on 3/7/25 with the expectation of securing my birth certificate would be expedited, and order pending for weeks. Inquired via phone about what was holding up the review and approval on 3/18/25, and surprise, surprise the order was approved.

Previous inquire via email sent 3/10/25 responded to on 4/9/25 letting me know order approved 3/18/25 and NY State Vital Records processing time is 140-150 business days and I'll receive an email confirmation once my order has shipped. Securing my birth certificate almost 8 MONTHS after ordering is not expedited and is unacceptable. NY State Vital Records will not provide status on the request, and calls to VitalChek result in extended holds with either no response due to high call volumes or resolution. Totally frustrating and unacceptable!!!

Avoid this black hole at all means. Once order submitted and approved, you're in a timeless wait-state for an update and they think it's acceptable to response "When processing is complete, you'll receive an email."

I needed a birth certificate to get a passport for a trip in July. Only after I placed my order and paid did they say it could take up to 6 months to receive it, time I did not have.

I then requested the birth certificate directly from the county where it was filed and got it back in two weeks for half the price. I actually received my passport in the mail before I got my birth certificate from Vitalchek!

So yes, Vitalchek delivered my document, but it took too long and was pricey. Youre better off ordering directly, if you can.

The only problem at all was with UPS. It took them a week to deliver an overnight package that originated 80 miles away from me but spent a week in Albuquerque which is not even on the path.

I was a little apprehensive as my previous experience had been from St. Louis MO. again, UPS got to the "out for delivery" phase and then sent message it was destroyed in shipment. I ordered again and got it.

When I filed a claim with credit card, Vital check showed a delivery. I had to show the UPS notification that it had been destroyed and never delivered before they accepted the claim.

Starting to think UPS has an employee that may be involved in an identity theft ring. It does put your guard up.

I placed an order with for a birth certificate over a week ago and have been unable to get in contact with phone support. I have called and have been on hold for over 8hours total.

Their phone hold loop doesnt have their pm hours so I wasnt even sure if they were open. I am still havent been able to talk to anyone about what documents I need to send in and am running out of time for when I need the birth certificate.
